How to Make This Halloween SCARY Fun in the ‘Burg

1. HOWL-O-SCREAM

Busch Gardens is celebrating 20 years of fears with this year’s Howl-O-Scream! With a number of terrifying haunted houses and mazes, immersive themed scare zones, escape rooms, and live shows, this Halloween season will have more scares than ever! Come out to Busch Gardens Thursday-Sunday (repeated weekly) and see how well you handle the horror!

2. Trick or TREAT yourself to a Day at Pumpkinville

Pumpkinville is operated by a local family farm, open daily from September 22-October 28. Enjoy the vast selection of pumpkins, winter squash, gourds, flowers, and arts and crafts at this Williamsburg gem! The whole family can embrace the Halloween spirit with hayrides, corn mazes, and games.

3. Ghost Walk in Colonial Williamsburg

Creep through the streets and gardens of the historic area of Colonial Williamsburg while listening to the spooky tales! The guide will share frightening experiences of local residents and guests and the stories of ghosts who call Williamsburg home. The Ghost Walk occurs nightly beginning at 7 p.m., and is recommended for families with children ages 8+.

4. Family Frights at Jamestown Settlement

Family Frights is a Halloween-themed museum night for children and families to enjoy! There will be haunted houses, trick-or-treating, face painting, ghost tales and more. This annual event is held on Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

5. Night of the Living Museum

The Virginia Living Museum is having its 19th annual Night of the Living! If you want a break from the scares, come and enjoy animals, trail walks, pumpkin carving, pirates and princesses! The “Fright Light” laser show in the Abbitt Planetarium is freakishly cool, and children 12 and under will love the Halloween games and arts and crafts! Add the Night of the Living to your Halloween bucket list this year. The event is held on Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20.
