Upcoming Holiday Events Not to Be Missed!
We have to admit—summertime in the ‘Burg is awesome, but equally as special (or maybe just a teensy bit better!) is the holiday season in Williamsburg, Virginia. Few other vacation spots can boast a busy year-round calendar like this one, and now that fall is rolling in, the Historic Triangle is just getting warmed up!
If you’re planning a fall or winter family getaway to celebrate the cooler months in style, choose a stay at King’s Creek Plantation during one of these memorable holiday events.

When: Select Thursdays and every Friday-Sunday from 9/23-10/29 starting at 6 p.m.
First up—Halloween! No one does it better than Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream, a month-long celebration at one of the country’s greatest theme parks. Take your pick of bone chilling, elaborate haunted houses, themed terror-tories, and spooky shows. A new favorite at the park is the No Escape experience, where guests choose between two physical adventure games that test your brain power in a timed mystery exercise packed with tricks and riddles. The Howl-O-Scream festivities begin starting at 6 p.m., and while this is the perfect place to take older kids, we’d recommend sticking to daytime rides and coasters if you have little ones in tow!

When: Sunday, December 3 from 5-7:30 p.m.
If your holiday plans are already in place for the end of the month, you can still get in on the memory-making action on Sunday, December 3 at the Palace Green for Williamsburg’s renowned Grand Illumination event. Back in the 18th century, people liked to celebrate big occasions with gunfire and fireworks—and you can witness it first-hand in the 21st century from the comfort of a blanket or lawn chair. Gather for a night of merriment with musical performances and beautiful fireworks in three locations. (Tip: bring paper cups and a big thermos of hot cocoa for everyone to share.)

One of Busch Gardens’ signature events, Christmas Town is celebrating its 8th season with Christmas-themed attractions, holiday shows, and gorgeous displays with millions of twinkling lights. Take a stroll through the Polar Pathway, where the unmistakable and heartwarming scent of Christmas trees fills the air as you make your way through larger-than-life light displays. Rudolph’s Winter Wonderland, Sesame Street Forest of Fun and Santa’s Workshop are the perfect attractions for younger children. And don’t forget to check out one of the six stages performing holiday shows that include favorites like Deck the Halls, O’ Tannenbaum, ‘Twas That Night and Scrooge No More!
