To make this Independence Day sizzle, King’s Creek has compiled a cheat sheet of the best places to see fireworks in action around Williamsburg on Thursday, July 4.
The Lights of Freedom at Palace Green in Colonial Williamsburg
Reserve your premium fireworks seating online and experience live entertainment, a surge of patriotic pride and, of course, a fantastic 18th-century fireworks display above the Governor’s Palace. Guests will join in on the national anthem and hear award-winning actress and NAACP Image Award nominee Anika Noni Rose’s reading of “Independence Day: An Invitation,” as she speaks from the Governor’s Palace balcony. Seating is first-come, first-served, so be sure to arrive by 7 to witness extraordinary colors, patriotic music and a thrilling grand finale of thunderous fireworks!
Yorktown and Riverwalk Landing
Another wonderful way to celebrate Independence Day is in historic Yorktown. You can catch the parade along the waterfront at 9 a.m. and stop by for a celebratory bell-ringing ceremony at 7 p.m. Riverwalk Landing, a beautiful setting for entertainment and celebration, concludes the day at 9:15 with a stunning fireworks display right on the scenic York River. Attendance is completely free!
Busch Gardens always has something extra special planned for guests on July 4, and this year is no exception. Bring the whole family to commemorate Independence Day with spectacular fireworks shows from July 3 – 5. After a day of fun at the park, watch the night sky light up with colorful pyrotechnic displays set to music at 9:30 p.m. each night!
No matter where you’re standing, you’ll be sure to catch these massive displays just by looking up. But for the very best views, reserve a picnic or river cruise and enjoy the fireworks as they reflect off the Rhine River!
