The start of spring is such an exciting time at King’s Creek Plantation. Our Cottages, Townes, and Estates are all ready to receive seasonal guests and members, and the trees and gardens that decorate the property play their part in welcoming you with gorgeous blossoms. Williamsburg is a very special place to vacation in the warmer months, and there’s more to see, do, eat, learn, and experience than you can fit into a week!
This weekend, we’re celebrating some of the grand openings that mark the start of another wonderful year in the Historic Triangle!
Grand Opening of the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown
March 23 – April 4
The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown has recently undergone some phenomenal expansions and is ready to show off its new and improved facility during this 13-day celebration. Each day commemorates one of the 13 original colonies, and features films, engaging exhibition galleries and living-history experiences that beautifully convey the richness and complexity of our Revolutionary heritage. Be sure to check out the expanded Continental Army encampment and Revolution-era farm—they’re unique and amazing spaces for imagining life as it was in 18th-century America! Throughout the festivities, there will be children’s games and activities to keep everyone in your family immersed in this spectacular event.
Busch Gardens Opens for the Season!
March 25
It’s the weekend all roller coaster-loving families have been waiting for! As of this Saturday, Busch Gardens is officially open for the season, and starting April 7 visitors will be lined up to experience the highly anticipated InvadR™. This Viking-themed wooden coaster features a 74-foot drop, 50 mile-per-hour speeds and nine airtime hills. If you’re any kind of thrill-seeker, you’ll want to add InvadR to your list of conquered coasters.
There is truly something for everyone at this amazing park, and stealing the show this Saturday and Sunday at the Busch Gardens Globe Theater is TV host and animal expert Jack Hanna! He’ll be talking about the importance of animal conservation while showing audiences some of his wildest creatures! If you want to get up close and personal with Jack and his animals, you can register for an exclusive breakfast or lunch.
Williamsburg Farmers Market
March 25
Another long-awaited seasonal area favorite is the Williamsburg Farmers Market, located in Merchants Square in the heart of Williamsburg on Duke of Gloucester Street across from the College of William and Mary. This award-winning market has been getting better and better every year since it first began in 2002! This Saturday, browse selections from over 30 vendors, who will display a visually stunning array of local products. Feast your eyes on colorful organic produce, free-range meats from chicken and beef to oysters and crab, mouth-watering homemade baked goods, honey, cheese, potted plants and fresh-cut flowers. (Vacation tip: Make your selections and bring it all back to your King’s Creek kitchen to prepare a tasty meal for the whole family!) This market runs weekly each Saturday through November, and this weekend will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Now that spring is officially upon us, there will be no shortage of incredible events to experience in Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. Just be sure to book your stay at King’s Creek Plantation ahead of time so that you and your family can be at the center of it all for the best family vacation ever!
