Can you believe it? Summer is fast approaching! While we still need to travel cautiously in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, you and your family have definitely earned some major TLC after a year of being cooped up at home, which means there’s no better time for some exciting Williamsburg Summer 2021 Special Events!
Here are some ideas to get your wheels turning for an exciting return to a new normal.
Busch Gardens always has a lineup we can get behind. Now is a great time to plan your trip and take advantage of all the wonderful offerings at the world’s most beautiful theme park.
* Keep in mind that these events may still be operating at a limited capacity throughout the whole summer; temperature screenings, face coverings, physical distancing and enhanced cleaning and sanitizing practices are all still in effect as of now.
Sesame Street Kid’s Weekends
Weekends from June 4 – 20
You’re invited to a celebration of friendship and fun at Busch Gardens! Created especially for the youngest members of the family, kids and parents alike can join the whole Sesame Street crew for kid-friendly rides, shows and more!
Summer Nights
June 25 – July 29
Feel the spark after dark at Busch Gardens’ Summer Nights on select evenings. Expect firework displays, thrilling rides and more.
Bier Fest
July 30 – September 6
Thrills are on tap this summer with a long list of beers from local breweries, as well as across the country and around the world. Sip and savor seasonal favorites and brew-inspired dishes featuring all flavors.
Virginia’s largest water park is officially open May 22! Whether you’re looking for big thrills, kid-friendly fun, or you simply want to relax and unwind, this is undoubtedly the best place to cool off this summer.
The Virginia Living Museum is a place of wonder for kids and adults alike. This amazing place is home to over 250 species of animals found in Virginia, including reptiles, mammals, birds and fish. Animals that are orphaned, injured or not able to be released into the wild have a santuary here.
The Jurassic Giants exhibit features indoor and outdoor galleries tailor-made for the dino lover in your family. Journey back millions of years to the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous periods and experience life-like dinosaurs around every turn. These are the largest animatronic dinosaur the Virginia Living Museum has ever featured, and they’ll be here all summer long!
Colonial Williamsburg is the country’s largest living history museum, and it’s just minutes from King’s Creek. Their educational mission is upheld through immersive, authentic 18th-century experiences and programming for guests. Here are some special events they have planned for you this summer.
Memorial Day Weekend at Colonial Williamsburg is an opportunity to explore America’s founding ideals and honor the men and women who died defending them. Colonial Williamsburg is offering FREE admission during Memorial Day weekend, Friday through Monday, May 28-31, to all active duty Military, Reservists, Retirees, Veterans, National Guardsmen and their immediate dependents. Free admission includes admission to historic trades and sites, to two world-class art museums, and shuttle service.
Juneteenth marks the emancipation of the last enslaved people on June 19, 1865 in Galveston, Texas, ending the institution of chattel slavery in the United States. At Colonial Williamsburg, celebrate this important holiday by hearing the untold stories of free and enslaved African Americans as shared by actor interpreters. There’s no better place to celebrate July Fourth than on historic Duke of Gloucester Street. Enjoy a full day of patriotic festivities, including public readings of the Declaration of Independence, musical performances, hands-on activities for the kids, and a dazzling fireworks display to cap the evening.
