Jamestown is a year-round provider of engaging events and programs. Here you can relive history through recreations of the Powhatan Indian village and discover through exhibitions and galleries how Powhatan Indian, European and African cultures crossed paths.
On May 11, Historic Jamestown and the Jamestown Settlement will be celebrating the 412th anniversary of the founding of America’s first permanent English settlement. Enjoy one-of-a-kind experiences and engaging activities, and delve deeper into Jamestown’s history than you ever have before.
During the day…
“Jamestown Day” features Historic Jamestown’s ongoing archaeological discoveries of the 1607 colony and one of the Jamestown Settlement’s ships. There will also be a number of immersive activities for you and your family to gain valuable insight on the events that took place here. The educational programs include Powhatan and English weaponry, military and maritime demonstrations, and an exhibition highlighting the Godspeed setting sail in the James River.
There are separate admissions to visit Historic Jamestown and Jamestown Settlement. Admission to Jamestown Settlement is from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily. Prices are $17.50 for adults, $8.25 for children 6-12, and free for children younger than 6. Residents receive complimentary admission!
Historic Jamestown is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily. Adult admission is $20.00, and children under the age of 16 are admitted free.
Four-site value tickets are available for purchase at the Jamestown Settlement, Historic Jamestown and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Ticket prices are $46 for adults, $30 for kids ages 13-15, and $16.50 for kids ages 6-12. Enjoy seven days of unlimited access to four historical venues and truly enrich your Jamestown Day experience. Value tickets include access to Historic Jamestowne, Jamestown Settlement, Yorktown Battlefield and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.

Jamestown Settlement will be presenting the evening premiere of “Mother Tongue.” This play portrays the tale of three Jamestown women, including Matoaka, the daughter of Powhatan chief of more than 30 Virginia Indian tribes, Anne Burras Laydon, the first of many courageous women to leave life in England to embrace the unknown, and Angelo, the first African woman mentioned by name in Jamestown’s historical record. These three women from diverse backgrounds are brought together by how the world will remember their incredible stories.
The performance will take place at Robins Foundation Theater at the Jamestown Settlement on May 10 & 11, and May 16-18 at 7:30 p.m. Play tickets are $20.
